About the Author of Farmgate Nigeria

Oyeleke Jubril is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of FarmGate Nigeria, a technology-driven agricultural enterprise dedicated to improving market access and profitability for farmers across the country.

He obtained his first degree in Crops and Environmental Protection from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in 2014. Following graduation, he gained hands-on experience in the agricultural sector through subsistence farming on a modest scale. In 2020, through farming incentives provided by the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, he expanded his operations into commercial agriculture.

His agribusiness portfolio included the production of poultry (turkeys, broilers, and layers), livestock (goats), and large-scale cultivation of cassava and maize. Despite achieving strong yields and successful production, Mr. Jubril observed a persistent structural issue within the agricultural value chain — the disproportionate influence of middlemen who absorb the majority of profits, leaving farmers with minimal returns for their efforts.

Motivated by this challenge, he sought to combine his agricultural expertise with technological innovation. He returned to LAUTECH to pursue a second degree in Computer Science, equipping himself with the knowledge and technical capacity to design digital solutions that address systemic inefficiencies in agricultural marketing and distribution.

Upon completion of his studies, he founded FarmGate Nigeria: a pioneering platform developed to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers, enhance transparency, and ensure equitable value distribution across the agricultural supply chain.

Through FarmGate Nigeria, Mr. Jubril continues to demonstrate his commitment to agricultural transformation, digital innovation, and sustainable rural development in Nigeria and beyond.
